Community Spotlight:
Dr. David & Elder Helen Mack
How did you first learn about TMPC, and what compelled you to join?
I (Helen) first learned about this ministry through work friends. We started to attend Wednesday Bible study during lunch at the museum in 2007. Years later, in 2024, David and I started to search for a ministry that could elevate us to the next level of service. We began our search, and TMPC made the short list. We were compelled to join because of the life-changing teaching/preaching and the love that we received from the TMPC community. It’s amazing how God brings things full circle.
What has been your favorite TMPC community moment so far?
The most memorable community moment is being treated like members of the TMPC family from the first day that we walked on the campus. We did not receive a high-pressure sales pitch to join, but welcoming smiles and genuine love. As a result, we were allowed to immediately work in various ministries.
How has the concept of community factored into your story of navigating life's challenges and growing in faith?
Community is part of God’s plan because he is relational. As we learned in the CCFM Leadership Institute, there is an epidemic of loneliness (lack of relationships) that started before COVID. This is a trick of the enemy because we were not created to be alone. As we studied the early church in Acts 2, they were communal. Which means, they were codependent on one another to survive the evilness that plagued the land during that time, and we are no different. We need community more than ever today for accountability, encouragement, support, companionship, and most importantly, agape love.
If you could invite someone outside of the church to experience our community, what would you hope they take away?
It is my desire that they would see us as a body of believers who believe in developing people to edify the body of Christ.
And lastly, how can the TMPC community be lifting you in prayer?
We would ask the TMPC community to pray for our family, health, and our spiritual growth as we seek God’s guidance for ministry.
